About Us

The Fayette County Humane Society is an all volunteer, NON-PROFIT organization located in Fayette County, Georgia, approximately 30 miles south of Atlanta. Our programs are supported entirely by fundraising and the generosity of individuals who share our concern for homeless animals.

We are dedicated to ending the needless suffering of unwanted pets through our aggressive spay neuter program. We provide spay/neuter assistance and temporary foster care for rescued homeless pets until they can be placed in permanent loving homes.

Fayette County Humane Society Starts a "Building Fund"

As spring approaches, the Fayette County Humane Society (FCHS) will be asked to take unwanted litters of kittens and puppies, in addition to the normal volume of owner surrenders and stray animals we rescue. FCHS (a 501c3 nonprofit not affiliated with Fayette County Animal Control) does not have its own shelter; all the rescued cats and dogs live in foster homes with volunteers until they can be adopted.

Unfortunately, FCHS does not have enough available foster homes to accommodate all the requests for assistance we receive. Consequently, we have to turn some people away and animals end up abandoned or left in dangerous situations. To increase capacity and thus our ability to help the community, FCHS is launching a building fund.

Donations for the FCHS building fund will be set aside in a separate, interest-bearing account until we have enough to build or purchase our own facility, or to refurbish a donated property. To contribute, please click here.  (Be sure to specify “building fund” if you want your donation used for that purpose.)
