Adoption Information
The Fayette Humane Society has cats, kittens, dogs and puppies
living in foster homes and cats and kittens in the Cat Care Room at PetSmart in Peachtree City. Pictures of our rescued animals can be seen
in the Available Cats and
Available Dogs sections. Once you have chosen
the pet(s) you would like to adopt, you may fill out a pre-adopt
application online and a volunteer will contact you. Click here for

In addition to our regular adoptions at PetSmart, Tack Trolley will host adoptions from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following dates: future dates to be announced.

We are pleased to offer an adoption program called "Seniors for
Seniors." This program offers qualified
senior citizens who are 62 or older the opportunity to adopt a senior
cat or dog (one six years or older) for one-half of the normal adoption
fee. An older cat or dog can provide
friendship for lonely individuals offering them an opportunity for
interaction that many miss if family or friends are not nearby. An
older pet can also offer gentle companionship in a senior’s life.
Our volunteers will help you select a senior dog or cat that fits your
lifestyle and home situation.
The adoption fee for puppies and dogs includes: heartworm test, spay or
neuter, de-worming and flea
treatment if needed, age appropriate vaccinations and microchip.
The adoption fee for kittens and cats includes: FIV test, spay or neuter, de-worming and flea treatment if
needed and age appropriate vaccinations.

Black Dog and Cat Syndrome
Did you know there is a Black Dog and Cat Syndrome? The Black
Dog and Cat Syndrome refers to the number of black dogs and cats that
are abandoned, overlooked, and euthanized at animal shelters everywhere.
Most people don't realize that black-coated dogs and cats are doomed when they find themselves at the shelter. They are being euthanized at horrifying rates. Rescue groups can only save a few at a time because it may take months to find them homes. This is a sad reality that can't be explained other than the fact that they're considered "plain." Potential adopters who see two dogs or cats, both with great personalities and both the same size and age, will choose the animal with a colored coat the majority of the time.
The Fayette Humane Society never turns away an animal because of its color. We're asking everyone who is considering adding a new member to their family to consider our black-coated friends. You're truly a hero to that animal when you adopt a black cat or dog that otherwise would not have been given a chance at a life it deserved.
